A child covers her ears with her hands. She stares back at us intently. There is something quizzical about the look on her face. As she covers her ears, she seems to be asking us why we could ever be complicit in racism. We would be quick to tell her that she’s wrong, but is that really the case? Are we truly confronting the multifaceted evils of racism on a daily basis? Are we working to make public spaces safer for our neighbors and allies? This piece asks you all of these questions, and it asks them seemingly at once. This is a powerful commentary on racism. .
